Learning the craft of writing takes time. All writers find their own way of working and this will continue to evolve as time goes by. I wouldn’t dream of telling anyone that I know the best, or the only way to write a novel, but we can all learn from other’s experiences.
I’m a ‘planner’ because I’ve learned that I need to plan a novel to prevent me having to rewrite great chunks of it but some people, known as ‘pantsers’ (because they fly by the seat of their pants) think that planners are too constrained. It doesn’t really matter how you choose to work, as long as it works for you.
From time to time I’ll post some of my favourite tips and I’d love to hear suggestions from visitors to the website, too!
